Transition Tools

With renewables and biomass accounting for less than 15% of the world’s energy mix in 2018 and less than 30% of the world’s electricity mix in 2019– a significant transition phase from fossil fuels to greener sources of energy will be necessary. Additionally, we’ve seen that renewables and other green technologies are limited, so we’re going to have to transition our societies into less consuming ones.

Both of these transitions will take time, especially if we plan on maintaining the current quality of life levels in developed countries, and spreading that across the globe. There’s no sugar-coating it, that’s a problem. We’re running short on time and have to reduce our fossil fuel consumption considerably in the near future. With that in mind, we have to consider other energy sources, GHG-reducing processes, and automated energy optimizing software.

In the following sections, we’ll take a look at some of the tools that can help us reduce our impacts while we transition into more sustainable societies – and for some tools, even afterward.
